“Three voices, three philosophies.” (October 12, 2025)

Tonight’s chamber works revealed strikingly different approaches to instrumental dialogue — three distinct visions of how musical voices can share the stage.
Taken together, they trace a spectrum of chamber-music writing: from Fauré’s layered independence, to Poulenc’s strict equality, to Schumann’s clear hierarchy and lyrical centrality. Each offers its own answer to the same question: how should voices coexist?
🎵 Fauré’s Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 15 often sets the strings and piano apart, almost like two ensembles with different dynamic goals.
🎻 Poulenc’s Violin Sonata (1942–43) insists on absolute equality between violin and piano — they spar, echo, and share in a mixture of tragedy and wit.
❤️ Schumann’s Andante (Piano Quartet, Op. 47) presents intentional clarity and transparency: solo instruments emerge tenderly while others support, led by a long, yearning melody built on the interval of the seventh — full of longing and reminiscence.
Grateful to my wonderful chamber partners — Foo Say Ming (violin), Marietta Ku (viola), and Song Woon Teng (cello) — for their inspiring musicianship and generosity of spirit. And heartfelt thanks to Dwane Leow, artistic director and conductor of StrIVngs, for organizing this meaningful event.

Upcoming Recital in Singapore
I am delighted to share my next performance, organized by Strivngs’ director, Mr. Dwayne Leow. This time, I will be joining three wonderful musicians to form a piano quartet, as we explore the rich colors and textures of the French repertoire.
Our program will feature Gabriel Fauré’s Piano Quartet, a masterpiece of French chamber music, alongside Francis Poulenc’s Sonata for Violin and Piano—for those who missed it during my recent recital in Kuala Lumpur.
It has been an immensely rewarding journey preparing the Fauré with my quartet colleagues, Ms. Marietta Ku, Mr. Foo Say Ming and Mr. Song Woon Teng, whose musicianship and dedication make this collaboration truly inspiring. I look forward to sharing this music with our audience very soon.

Recent Performance in Kuala Lumpur
I was recently invited by Deciso Fine Violin to perform in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for a special reunion recital with my long-time collaborator, Mr. Foo Say Ming. It was a deeply meaningful occasion for us, and we were honored to receive a standing ovation from the passionate and supportive audience.
Our program featured Francis Poulenc’s Sonata for Violin and Piano and Antonín Dvořák’s Slavonic Fantasy, works that showcased both lyrical intimacy and exuberant energy.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Tan Chin Sheng, Director of Deciso Violin, and his entire team for their warm hospitality and invaluable support in making this performance possible.
Recital at Ambleside Gallery: A Musical Farewell
On 25 May Sunday 2025, I had the honor of presenting a farewell recital at the inspiring Ambleside Gallery, a celebration of music, community, and new beginnings. The program featured: Kabalevsky's Rondo in A minor, Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, Astor Piazzolla's Adios Nonino, Rachmaninoff's Cello Sonata, and John Williams's Escapades among others. This evening was made possible by the generosity of Jackson and the Ambleside team, whose dedication created a space where art and music intertwined perfectly. Proceeds from the event supported the UNCG School of Music, ensuring future students can pursue their own artistic dreams. View photos from the evening below- a visual keepsake of this milestone.
